Afghanistan: Ben Hammersley update
Ben Hammersley’s Dangerous Precedent has an update in which he shops

“One store we visited tried to sell me a bullwhip. Ah,
cool, I thought. Indiana Jones. No, says the shopkeeper, from the
Taliban time. For women, he says, and looks away.”

Now, I think I would buy this. No, I would definitely buy this. I plan
on having children someday, and just imagine the power and authority
that having a “Taliban bullwhip” would give me as a parent. It’s so
much tougher than Bernie Mac’s “Big Momma’s Belt.”
I think it would have been a lot easier for my dad to get my brothers
and I to do yard work if he could have quickly resorted to threatening
us with a “medieval Muslim ass-whupping.”
