How much more anti-American could it get?

Eurasianet.org — home of Ted Rall (how much do they pay him to run his cartoons, by the way?)–has this AP story saying more money for US bases would whip up anti-American sentiment among Islamist extremists…

Hello? Anyone notice that they are already “whipping it up?” And that actually, people were very happy to work on the base, and very unhappy when they were sent home after the latest bombings? Where does the AP find its “analysts?”

I’d say a few more US bases might be one thing that Uzbekistan needs in order to become the next Japan or South Korea…

Anyhow, here’s the story:

from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, via Eurasianet.

“ALMATY, Kazakhstan — Washington’s plans to beef up its military base in Uzbekistan as part of a troop realignment abroad could whip up tensions between the impoverished ex-Soviet republic’s secular government and radical Islamic groups, analysts and opposition politicians say.”

Ahhh, the same one I got bent out of shape about.

I’ve been finding them to be less and less useful lately. I don’t know if the good writers are all on vacation or what, but I could use a Stephen Blank or somebody right about now.

Sorry, I didn’t click on this story when you linked to it earlier…I was behind the curve, I guess.

Well, you did put it in a different context. EurasiaNet deserves some scorn for the shoddiness it’s presenting lately.

Mine was just my standard “Why are so many journalists absolute hacks?” complaint.
