Group 2 front-runners Uzbekistan and Iraq remained on course for a decisive showdown for top spot in their World Cup 2006 qualification section as they recorded decisive wins over Palestine and Chinese Taipei respectively on Wednesday.
Uzbekistan still lead the way in Group 2 with 10 points from four games after a 3-0 drubbing of Palestine in Doha, Qatar. The Uzbeks built a two-goal lead in the first half as skipper Mirdjalal Kasimov opened the scoring in the ninth minute and Server Djeperov extended the lead just after the half-hour mark.

Marat Bikmoev scored his first international goal 10 minutes from time to seal the Central Asian side’s third win in four qualifying matches.
