A Horse Race, from Khiva to Bukhara

by Laurence on 10/4/2004 · 1 comment

Ferghana.ru reports that a horse race from Khiva to Bukhara, some 496 kilometers across the Kyzyl-Kum desert, began on October 4th, sponsored by the Federation of Equestrian Sport of Uzbekistan. The race is a reminder of the historical importance of the horse to Central Asia, and the race takes place on the Great Silk Road. Perhaps ESPN might cover it next year for American TV?

Actually this would be good on tv, especially after the success of the movie Hidalgo. I think I will email ESPN with your idea.
