Kyrgyzstan Arrests Hizb-ut-Tahrir Leader

BISHKEK. Sept 30 (Interfax) – Khairullo Kochkorov, leader of a district cell of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir radical religious party, has been detained in southern Kyrgyzstan, sources in the Osh regional police department told Interfax on Thursday.
Books promoting extremist ideas were confiscated from Kochkorov’s house, the sources said. Similar books and pamphlets were confiscated from the house of another Hizb-ut-Tahrir member who was detained as well.
The two men already served prison sentences on charges of inciting ethnic and religious hatred.
