Uzbek-Turkmen relations

According to some sources, the upcoming meeting between Uzbek and Turkmen Presidents on November 19 will mark an improvement in the bilateral relations.
The Turkmenbashi is quoted to say:

“Under our agreement with the Uzbek president, we will sign an agreement on eternal peace on the Turkmen-Uzbek border, fraternal mutually beneficial relations, using border facilities on an equal basis and preventing any steps that may cause damage to each other”

According to this article in Russian, today, two days before the meeting of Presidents, an exhibition of Turkmen art was opened at the Center of contemporary art of the Academy of arts of Uzbekistan.

That they are meeting at all is an indication that relations are improving.
