Kazakh Ambassador Disavows Borat

I do not envy Roman Vassilenko, the press secretary for the Kazakh Embassy in the United States, his job. He seems to only get press when he reminds everyone that this man, is not actually Kazakh and nothing he says about Kazakhstan is true.

Unfortunately, given Borat’s latest antics, Mr. Vassilenko’s will continue to have plenty of work in front of him. From his latest statement,

Kazakhstan embassy spokesman Roman Vassilenko, in the US, said: “I do have a sense of humour. But it’s not quite helpful and perhaps harmful to portray a country where ’Throw the Jew down the well’ is a famous folk song’.”

And in another report, Mr. Vassilenko said, “He does not speak for Kazakhstan. He doesn’t even look like a Kazakh.”

Well, technically speaking, that last statement wasn’t very helpful. Same thing could be said about Mr.Vassilenko himself…

Zing!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.
