In the same Russian Information Agency Novosti article as the Ivanov quote, is this analysis from political scientist Andronik Migranyan, who said that Kyrgyzstan is facing “the collapse of the country.”

According to Migranyan, there is a real danger of “the crisis turning into an ethnic conflict, and the increased instability might involve neighboring countries into the conflict.”

“It will not be a struggle between democrats and conservatives; it will be a conflict between secular authorities and Muslim forces on the one hand, and a conflict between the Uzbeks and the Kyrgyz on the other,” the political scientist said. “It is all very dangerous,” he added.
