Respect For Murray

by Nathan Hamm on 3/30/2005 · 5 comments

I don’t pretend to know much about UK politics, but this is interesting. Tim and I kind of go off in a tangent in the comments, but it’s interesting to take note of who Murray is making friends with in his campaign.

Kind of underlines my point about his car for human rights being hollow.

Hey Craig Murray’s replied in the comments:

As for Nathan and the Bush boys at Registan, I have followed their site with great interest. I am genuinely at a loss to understand why they expend so much real bile and hatred on me, while showing so little antagonism to the truly appalling dictatorial regime in Uzbekistan. I have no claims to perfection, but I never tortured anyone. If I saw a little more evidence of real concern about that, I might take them more seriously.

My response to this was:

Mr Murray: If you think that the level of discussion about you on Registan.net is “bile and hatred”, you are going to be in for a nasty shock once you start getting into politics properly.
I would also advise that, if you are running for public office, you learn to respond to some of the politely put criticisms of your actions rather than dismiss all criticism as being “bile and hatred”.

And I can be much more bilious.

I especially like Benjamin, who encourages Murray to file libel suits against critics. Bring it on sucka! I love our more liberal libel laws!

Did you know beforehand that Mr Murray had previously read The Argus? I’ve never heard him explicitly reference it before, and TBH I’d take his claim that he’s “followed it with great interest” (implying he has read it for some time) with a pinch of salt. Hopefully he’ll read it more now, and who knows? He may even respond in an adult manner!
