UN imposes sanctions on Islamic Jihad Group in Central Asia

U.N. UNITED NATIONS (AP) – The United Nations has imposed sanctions on the Islamic Jihad Group which is active in Central Asia, saying it has links to al-Qaida.

The U.N. Security Council committee in charge of anti-terrorism sanctions against al-Qaida and remnants of Afghanistan’s former Taliban rulers added the group to its sanctions list on June 1, according to an announcement circulated late Friday.
