Well, they’ve got my support. Almaty is awesome!

I wish them best as well, for it with my two hands and feet. It would put a spotlight into the region and its people.

I would love it, but for so many people it would be simply impossible to reach the Olympics in Almaty. The ticket from North America to Kazakhstan is over $2000, and from Europe it is also not cheap at all. So, we’d enjoy it, but everyone else in the world would have to watch TV’s.
I wish Borat had something to say about this:)

You can get tickets from the US to Almaty alot cheaper than $2,000. After spending a total of 2 minutes on a couple of Web sites, I found fares around $1500 round trip from Dallas.

But who travels overseas to the Winter Olympics other than the extremely wealthy or the extremely dedicated winter sports fan? In both cases, money would be no object.

I, for one, would welcome an event of this caliber in a venue other than Europe, North America or Japan.
