Turkmen Pop

by Nathan Hamm on 5/5/2006 · 4 comments

Too busy to write anything substantive today. And it is the end of the week.

So, enjoy the following video from Turkmenistan depicting the ongoing struggle within Turkmen society between rappers and pop singers.

There’s a special bonus video after the jump. The quality’s not so great, but I’m sure that certain people (such as…) will enjoy it.

UPDATE: The second movie is back. Sorry for taking the post away for a while. WordPress 2 uses a WYSIWYG editor and it’s horrible. It took me a while to figure out how to turn it off because, though this is supposed to be the most intuitive and user-friendly version of WP yet, they don’t put something as important as choosing how to write posts under “options.”

Oh man what a great video. The guy in the BMW steals his girl and all he can do is walk down the bike path all alone.

Dude, I got inspired and took this video’s advice today. I went cruising on some deserted streets near a park on the edge of town tonight and pulled up next to this semi-hot chick in my sedan with tinted windows and started rapping to her. Unfortunately i don’t know Turkmen. Otherwise, I’m sure she would have totally dug it and ditched the guy she had been flirting with just a minute earlier! Oh well.

And they looked as though they were having so much fun in the park…. Guess she’s a “Material Girl”
