Xinhuanet says that the Kyrgyz ambassador to the US is claiming Akayev hasn’t resigned and is in a safe place. Well, since Kulov made the announcement, it very well could be that Akayev hasn’t technically resigned. He’s certainly not running the show any longer though.

Unless he’s prepared and able to fight his threatened Civil War, he de facto resigned when he fled.
A lot of things have surprised me, but that would blow me out of the water.
