Uzbekistan is not going to GUUAM Summit

UzReport.com:

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli, who visited Uzbekistan on 17-18 April, told Georgian TV that Uzbekistan will not participate in the upcoming summit of GUUAM leaders, scheduled in Chisinau (Moldavia) for April 22.

“The fact that Uzbekistan will not participate in the GUUAM summit will not influence further relationships between Georgia and Uzbekistan,” the Georgian Prime Minister said.

Uzbekistan’s decision was not a surprise, as the country suspended its participation in the GUUAM, a coalition comprised of Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova, which was formed in 1997.

No, not at all. Andy and I were just talking about this. Check this out, but then there’s this that suggests they never left.

I have no idea which it is though. It’s a weird organization — kind of a “We don’t like Russia so much” Association.

usa *smooch* guuam, or gu_am, it’s not like uzbekistan is needed to keep our fingers in the north-south transportation corridor pie. eurasia without usa is unthinkable, it would be like… eria or something.
