Bob Deen on Uzbek refugee situation

by Ben on 7/29/2005 · 2 comments

Relating to CXW’s posts here and here, a friend of mine from the spot, Bob Deen (working for ACTED), sent along an exlusive photo from yesterday’s events, as there was no media allowed.
Must credit Registan.Net and Bob Deen
He adds to it:

Everything happened in a very orderly fashion, the refugees were calm and happy that they would find a new, safe haven, although they will have to leave without their relatives who are still in Uzbekistan. For us it was very strange and a bit emotional to see the people leave we’ve worked so closely with for the last months, I wandered through an empty tent camp yesterday afternoon to check what should be kept and what should be removed, and it was an eerie experience.

This is great news. My prayers are with them on their new life away from Uzbekistan.
