Background on the Uzbek Cotton Industry

by Laurence on 9/1/2005 · 2 comments

To give some context to the debate, here’s a 2002 report on the Uzbek cotton industry, from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the United States Department of Agriculture.

This report, titled COTTON: MARKET SETTING, TRADE POLICIES, AND ISSUES by John Baffes, explains how the international cotton market works.

Also, a link to Emerging Textile’s Uzbek cotton news, and a link to the World Bank’s cotton improvement project, as well as their cotton taxation report for Uzbekistan.

Finally, here’s a link to the World Bank Boycott homepage.
