Some Muscovites demand compensation for the rat they found in their beer snack.

Three Muscovites are demanding 50 million rubles ($1.6 million) in compensation after they found a dead rat in a pack of spicy croutons, the Moscovsky Komsomolets daily reported Tuesday.

Moreover, the rat had been seasoned with the same spices as the croutons, and had several croutons stuck to its legs and abdomen. The expertise proved the rat had indeed been put in the pack by the producing company, a well-known Russian brand.

Mmm…. spicy rat…

If these men were as good and decent as their cousins in the frozen wastes of the western hemisphere, they’d merely ask for a free case of spicy beer snacks.

also of note…

I’ve especially been enjoying the extensive visual coverage of Miss Russia. It was on the front page for at least a week. Thanks MosNews!!

The shopping story is a bbc story – I saw it on bbc news this morning, so I’m not quite sure what’s going on there.

Perhaps Mosnews and the beeb have some kind of oddball reciprocal arrangement going. The bbc steals mosnews stories, so Mosnews takes a few off of the bbc just to even things out…

Continuing the theme, how about bat-bread from Voronezh… (http://mosnews.com/news/2005/10/28/batloaf.shtml). Added protein I guess.

What would we do without MosNews?!
