Astana & Pyongyang

North Korea has apparently tested a nuclear weapon, and Kazakhstan has joined the chorus of states condemning Pyongyang. A spokesman from the Foreign Ministry also called on North Korea to return to negotiations over its nuclear program.

Not that Kazakhstan getting in on the action is really going to change North Korea’s mind or anything, but it is interesting to see Kazakhstan wielding its moral authority on nuclear non-proliferation.
