Pakistan is the key to calming South Asia. The Brits are thankfully sending more troops to Afghanistan (where it is easy to start a business, but not so much to keep it from being blown up), while President Kalam of India tells them to halt their support of militants. He was, of course, referring to Kashmir, but the criticism applies to both of Pakistan’s borders. Pakistan responded by test firing its newest ballistic missile.

Musharraf is really skilled at sending the “hands off” signal, bu not so much the “we’re ready to be responsible actors” signal.
