Not that I would take it as indicating widespread popularity by an means, but it is pretty surprising what Amazon UK’s top seller in Kazakhstan is.

It has hit the number one in Kazakh sales from Amazon this week – along with a number of other surprising entries in the top ten.

“It” refers to human rights victim Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat.

“Kazakh” buyers from Amazon aren’t necessarily Kazakh, they could be Western expats, working for various IMF and WB projects and oil companies.

We can get our pirate copy of film from “Zeleniy Bazaar” black marketeers for as little as for 400 hundred tenges, and it would include as much as 8 comedy films in one DVD disk. There is no need to pay “copyright” bullshit, that’s an additional privileged tax for Western fools.
