Update: Anton has updated the attribution in his post. Still—copying the entire text of articles is extremely poor taste (and actually does violate the copyright of most other publications). Also in poor taste was me posting a photo of him, so I’ve removed it and apologized.
Geez, what is it with people stealing my poorly-written jeremiads? First it was some paper in Kyrgyzstan, now it’s some blogger dude.
Now, for the record, I do hold blogs to a significantly different, and lower standard, especially if they’re not-for-profit: excerpting even large chunks of text is fine, so long as it is attributed back to the post and I am given proper credit. This guy didn’t even try: after reprinting the post in its entirety—a big nicht nicht—he even included my own first-person references to a previous post (without even linking to that), and then ends with a feeble link back to Registan.net’s base-level domain. So he’s really guilty of improperly quoting and incorrectly attributing his source (bad news if, as he says, he is a history student).
But hey, at least he properly referenced the name Registan.net! Regardless, Mr. Anton Kemmeren, I award no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I am sorry and will update the post, or if you like, delete it. Please contact me.
I updated the post, but if you want it deleted, just say so and it’s done. I thought (I think too much) that it’d be enough to link to your frontpage.
Thank you for updating your post. But stop stealing! You reprint entire articles on your weblog, which, besides being in poor taste, really does violate the copyright of those for-profit news services. Quoting (even at length) is one thing, if the intention is to send readers to an interesting article, or to use one article as the jumping off point for original work. But reprinting things in their entirety without permission is just stealing.
I was not aware of this and again, I’m sorry. I thought that linking back to the source was enough to be able to post an article. My knowledge on international copyright laws was null to nothing, I will read up on the subject.
Thanks for pointing this out.
