Tried in absentia whilst “rotting” in Austria, Rakhat Aliyev—the bête noir of Kazakh politics and now-former son-in-law of good ol’ Uncle Nazzy—has been found guilty. My favorite part?

Interestingly, although the court ruled that Aliyev’s property should be confiscated, it is an open secret that his former wife, president’s elder daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva, has been actively re-registering ex-husband’s assets for her own and their elder son’s names.

Yes, where should dignity be in the confiscation of your ex-husband’s ill-gained possessions?
