the power to destroy a thing gives one control of it.

Actually, Chief Justice John Marshall said, "The power to tax is the power to destroy," ( McCullock v. Maryland ).

Saakashvilli still might be in victory if international forses will be peacekeeping.

By the way, I watched matches between Russia and Georgia in Olympic Games, beach volleyball and judo. In both georgians won. I have heard also that on Russian TV commentors were verbally abusing georgians.

Is the statement in your article an oxymoron?:

"Meanwhile, Russia is busy exaggerating the claims of genocide. I think this warrants a continued open mind about the particulars of the conflict—we’re still collecting all the facts, and rushing to early snap-judgments will not help matters."

Just wondering.

I'm so confused.

Saakashvili is on Fox news now saying the Russians are occupying 3 or 4 (shouldn't he know?) urban centers in Georgia. CNN is saying the Russians are 30 miles from Tblisi (South Ossetia is more than 30 miles from Tblisi, I checked). Civil.GE doesn't seem to have anything like that in their headlines.

Is there a website keeping up with these developments? Might be nice if it took news from "all" sources, labeled the sources, and even gave them a tentative probability of truthfulness.

By the way, it's not like I ever refused anyone's gift of spy satellites or U-2s w/pilots! I wouldn't bother you if I could find out myself.
