The Empty Glass Palaces of Almaty

Amidst rumors of a construction freeze, a ban on tall buildings, and personal accounts of huge apartment buildings sitting empty, my friend Adam posts some truly beautiful pictures of Almaty’s new financial center, which is due to be completed (one hopes) soon.

The renderings are beautiful, without a doubt. And it looks to be shaping up. I just hope it can fulfill its promise, and not be another empty hulk.
