Bombings in Kandahar

by Joshua Foust on 4/25/2009 · 1 comment

Three suicide bombers have struck the provincial governor’s compound in Kandahar. News accounts say five police have died, though on Twitter I’m heading that eight people died, with eight more seriously wounded, 8 minorly wounded, and 1 girl seriously wounded since the governor’s compound is adjacent to a girls’ school (there was some initial confusion over whether the bomb was at the school or the compound). They’re reporting that one hour ago they heard another explosion from the governor’s compound, though it’s unclear whether that’s a new bomb or old ordinance being disposed of.

Some media outlets are reporting the Taliban have already claimed responsibility. I’ll update as I can.

I came across your article on the bombing in Kandahar. I’ve been looking for any recent information in Kandahar. My boyfriend was just deployed there and I’ve been looking for information on whats going on over there. Do you have anymore information on recent activity in Kandahar? Thanks!
