About The Blog

Registan.net covers Eurasian politics and news, seeking to draw more attention to issues and news rarely covered in much depth, if at all, by Western media. Our focus is primarily on the former Soviet Republics of Central Asia and the Caucasus and Afghanistan, with an eye to domestic politics, relations with with rest of the world, and foreign policy as well as the occasional report on pop culture.

Registan.net was launched in 2003 in order to offer analysis and context to current events from the region as well as to offer original reporting.

My name is Asha Anchan and I am a journalism student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. My photojournalism professor is heading up a photo trip with me and some other students to Kyrgyzstan Dec. 19- Jan. 8.

In doing some research, I came across your website and was very interested in the work you have done in the country. I am looking for anyone with contacts to stories in the country and didn’t know if you had other contacts in the area.

We want to tell the fullest story of Kyrgyzstan that we can and include as many cultural elements as possible, so if you are willing, we’d love to discuss the possibility of working with you or any other contacts that you might have, let me know what you think.

You can reach me best at this email or 402.670.2747.

Best,
Asha Anchan
