Thank you for keeping this list on the web.
Essential for the press freedom. The day we forget those who believed in press freedom and defended it there will be no hope left of less corruption and impunity.
Methods are different, maybe more sophisticated (?) in the Western world. Nevertheless (auto)censorship contribute to protect the dark sides of any society, covering the taboos and "holy cows".
So thank you for showing us the model how to keep the struggle for a real press freedom vivid.

There is no any murdered journalist from Uzbekistan, which means Tashkent regime works professionally. They can prison them, torture, punish, arrest, harass, make their life miserable but still do not kill. Journalists in Uzbekistan do not have freedom of speech but they have rights to live. May God bless those who passed their lives for the expression of truth.

Indeed. In terms of potential journalists killed, Salidjan Abdurakhmanov and Yusuf Juma (the latter is more a writer than a journalist but anyway… ) are both in prison which means mistreatment and serious risk of TB contagion.

Alisher Sharipov wrote primarily about the Tashkent regime and has been assassinated by one of Karimov’s cross-border death squads. Galima Bukharbaeva lives in exile. Who knows what risk she runs.

Guys, isn't this weird there's no uzbek journalist in this list? Alisher Saipov was an ethnic uzbek, yet he did not live in Uzbekistan, so he doesn't count. What about Uzbek journalists? None murdered? Ironic for a country with no freedom of speech whatsoever...

It is quite scary to see a pattern behind these murders in each country, just like you pointed out about Kazakhs being pushed in front of vehicles and Russians shot in their own apartment buildings.
It confirms that there is one head behind it all.

Why couldn't you interview someone more realistic in the article "The Strange Paradox of Stomatologbashi’s New Turkmenistan"?
I believe that it is a shame that you guys see a tiny bit of the entire picture. Of course issues exist and everyone knows about them, but giving an unbalanced, unobjective arguments worsen the point.
However, it is up to you on how you want to present your ideas, but let it be fair.
Sincerely,

Why did you put all these people under Central Asia. Since Russia, Georgi and Azerbaijan don't belong to Central Asia.
